Helping Migrant Kids

                                         “But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was;

                                                            and when he saw him, he took pity on him.”
                                                                                     (Luke 10:33)

"Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

God calls us to love and serve our neighbors and bear witness to the plight of the vulnerable and marginalized. Our shared faith inspires us to welcome the stranger and extend compassion to all who sojourn to our land. No matter how often we read the parable of the Good Samaritan, it ignites a renewed commitment within us to live a life that embraces and supports others in times of need. ..."

Rev. Elizabeth A. Eaton, Presiding Bishop
Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

                                      Refugee Sunday at Advent was October 14

Our guest preacher was the Rev. Elijah Mwitanti. Originally from Zambia, Rev. Mwitanti came to the US in 1993 to advance his theological training. He most recently served as an Interim Pastor at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fairfax and is awaiting a call. During the Exploring Faith time at 11:30, a representative from the ELCA’s office for Migrant Minors will share more about their efforts. We are accepting donations to help migrant children at the border; please make checks payable to Advent Lutheran Church with Refugee Sunday notated. If you would also like to help by writing to Congress, templates will be available to assist you.
